Coronavirus: High Court issues Notice, asks Lawyers, Litigants to not Crowd Court Premises

The Bombay Bar Association (BBA) on Thursday issued a notice marked urgent in the view of coronavirus or Covid-19 outbreak.

The Bombay Bar Association (BBA) in the notice suggested a few steps that can be taken up by the Bombay HC & its members.

The Bombay Bar Association (BBA) asked for screening of people entering into High Court premises using temperature guns & if someone's temperatures are higher than the normal then necessary steps are required to be taken by authorities.

The Bombay Bar Association (BBA) asked that the High Court should issue directions that litigants shalln't attend court unless their attendance is directed by the Bombay HC, & the court should also not dismiss cases just because the litigants haven't been able to come to the court.

The Bombay Bar Association (BBA) also asked its members to refrain from getting their clients to the association office unless it is extremely urgent.

In the notice, honorary secretary & advocate Birendra Saraf requested all the advocates to take precautionary measures such as using hand sanitisers, wearing masks or covering mouth & nose with handkerchief while coughing or sneezing.

Advocates have also been asked to avoid handshakes.

The Bombay Bar Association (BBA) has 4,000 members who are mostly associated with the Bombay HC. The High Cort authorities are yet to adhere to this Bombay Bar Association (BBA) notice.
