Pakistan former Prime Minister Imran Khan challenged his conviction in a graft case at the Islamabad high court, his lawyer Naeem Panjutha said as per news agency Reuters. The petition to challenge the weekend conviction had been filed in the Islamabad High court, the lawyer said.

Earlier, the former Pakistan PM's lawyer told Geo News that Imran Khan was being provided C-class facilities and being kept in "poor condition" in Attock jail. The PTI chairman was ready to spend the rest of his life in prison, the lawyer added.

Elaborating on the poor conditions of the cell where the PTI chief is lodged, the lawyer said it was infested with flies and bugs.

“The PTI chairman says he is ready to spend the remainder of his life in jail,” the lawyer said.

Imran Khan was jailed on August 5 for three years on charges of selling state gifts unlawfully- Toshakhana case- during his tenure as premier from 2018 to 2022. A district and sessions court convicted him for corrupt practices as judge Humayun Dilawar wrote in his judgement, “Charges of misdeclaration of assets have been proven against PTI chairman.”

Imran Khan’s lawyer said the former PM, who was removed from power via a parliamentary vote last year, was provided with a small room “which has an open washroom”.

Earlier, Imran Khan's party PTI petitioned the Islamabad High Court (IHC) to transfer Imran Khan from Attock Jail to Adiala Jail. "Since childhood, the petitioner is from an affluent family, and later due to his education, habits, and social and political status in the society, has got accustomed to a better mode of life... is a graduate of Oxford University, UK and the ... captain of Pakistan national Cricket...," the petition read.
