April 4,2019:
Earlier Samsung and Huawei first kicked on this trend by announcing their foldable smartphone Galaxy Fold and Mate X at the Mobile World Congress, Barcelona. There is a lot of speculation going on that the other manufacturers will surely follow the same path and Google doesn’t like to be out of the league
As the patent reveals, a smartphone that Google is working on is very similar to the proposed Motorola’s RAZR smartphone with a single inward fold.
The device also shares some resemblances with Microsoft Surface Book design as it doesn’t close symmetrically flat. It shows that a small gap between the two halves while closing them and the device could be bent in two different directions depicting “Z-fold display”.
The tech giant poised to enter in the foldable market with a new patent filing but the time will tell how the unique innovation will evolve in the final product.
With a glimpse of simple illustration, it is still exciting to see what Google is planning to gain maximum market share in the foldable smartphone segment.
