NUJS Kolkata 2005 & Amarchand Mangaldas alumnus Aditya Khanna has been promoted to elite US firm Ropes & Gray’s equity partnership in London.
He was the only partner promoted in London in Ropes & Gray’s largest global promotion round ever, of 24 new partners.
He is also the second graduate of NUJS Kolkata this year to make partnership at a US firm, following Kirkland & Ellis New York lateral salaried partner hire Abhishek Kolay (2006 batch).
After 2 years at what-was-then Amarchand, Khanna moved to the US in 2007 to complete an LLM at Columbia Law School, & joined Cravath Swaine & Moore in New York in 2008.
In 2012, he moved to London to join Ropes & Gray as an associate in its finance and high yield loans practice.

While he doesn’t focus on India work, specifically, he “focuses his practice on a wide range of corporate finance transactions.
He has extensive experience executing European, U.S. and cross-border high yield debt offerings in connection with leveraged buyouts and other leveraged financing, acting for issuers, investment banks and private equity firms.
He also advises on restructuring and liability management transactions”.
