Recently, a 2022 murder case from Sonbhadra (UP) came up for final hearing in a local court. The case began when a complainant reported that his elder brother went missing in August 2022, after heading to a cowshed.

During the investigation, locals stated that the victim was last seen near a resident’s house within police station limits. The following day, the victim’s body was recovered close to the same house. Police registered a case and later filed a chargesheet against the accused.

The prosecution argued that the evidence and witness statements clearly implicated the accused, while the defence could not raise sufficient doubt regarding their involvement.

Finally, the court found the accused guilty. They were sentenced to 10 year's imprisonment and ordered to pay a fine of ₹20,000. In case the fine is not paid, the convict will serve an additional four months in jail.
