The Sellur police in Madurai registered a case against unnamed policemen serving at the same police station for beating up a minor boy who created a ruckus in a residential area.
According to police sources, a group of youths caused disturbance to residents in Sellur in an inebriated mood on Monday. It was questioned by the residents. But the youths did not pay heed. When the residents tried to catch them all of them escaped, except 16-year-old boy.
He was handed over to the Sellur police. Being a juvenile in conflict with law, he was produced before the Juvenile Justice Board to be lodged in an observation home.
The board noticed injuries on the boy’s body. After clarifying it with the boy, it directed the police to register a case and conduct an inquiry. Based on the board’s direction, V Karthick, an assistant and computer operator in the board, lodged a complaint on Wednesday.
