The SC Collegium recently recommended the appointment of eleven new Judges to 3 HC's.
The decision was taken at a meeting of the collegium on Aug 14. The Central Govt will now have to clear the 11 recommendations.
While 3 names were recommended for the Gujarat HC, 4 names each were recommended for appointment to Allahabad & Kerala HC's.
Sanjay Kumar Pachori, Subhash Chandra Sharma, Subhash Chand & Saroj Yadav have been recommended for appointment to the Allahabad HC, which is currently functioning with 99 Judges even though its sanctioned strength is 161.
For the High Court of Kerala, Murali Purushothaman, Ziyad Rahman AA, Karunakaran Babu & Dr. Kauser Edappagath have been recommended.
The 3 names recommended for elevation to the Gujarat HC are Vaibhavi Devang Nanavati, Nirzarkumar Sushilkumar Desai & Nikhil Shreedharan Kariel. All 3 are lawyers. There are only 27 judges at the Gujarat HC which has a sanctioned strength of 52.
