Senior Counsel R. Shunmugasundram will be appointed as the next Advocate General of Tamil Nadu. Chief Minister M. K. Stalin cleared the name of Senior Counsel R. Shunmugasundram and sent all the requisites to Raj Bhawan for Governor’s assent.
On May 1, a day before the declaration of election results, former Advocate General Vijay Narayan resigned from the post.
R Shunmughasundaram enrolled as an advocate in the year 1977. He gained experience in criminal law from his father, Late S Rajagopal, a leading Advocate and former Public Prosecutor, Madurai. R Shunmughasundaram was appointed as Additional Public Prosecutor of the Madras High Court, and worked during 1989-91, conducting prosecutions on behalf of the State, the Central Bureau of Investigation, and the Railways.
