April 26, 2019:
Delhi High Court is now inviting application for designation as a senior advocate.
On 26.04.2019, Delhi High Court has issued a notification No. No. 414 /Genl./DHC on the subject of senior designation for advocates.
The Notification states as “Therefore, applications seeking conferment of designation as Senior Advocate are accordingly invited from eligible practicing advocates as provided in Rule (5) of the High Court of Delhi Designation of Senior advocate Rules, 2018, in the prescribed proforma annexed to the aforesaid Rules with a latest photograph of' the applicant”.
The notification also clarifies about the persons who have earlier applied for the designation. It says “It is clarified that Advocates who have applied earlier and whose applications are pending consideration in the Registry of this Court should apply afresh”.
For powers being exercised, the High Court has indicated as “It is notified that in exercise of powers conferred by Section 7 of the Delhi High Court Act, 1966 (Act 26 of 1966), Section 16(2) of the Advocates Act, 1961 and all other powers enabling it in this behalf”.
Last date for application is 25.05.2019.
