The National Green Tribunal has initiated action to tackle the issue of open garbage dumping in Neb Sarai. This decision follows a letter petition that highlighted severe problems caused by the dilapidated state of the area’s garbage collection point. Residents reported that solid waste was being discarded on IGNOU Road and the primary entry road, posing health risks and contributing to accidents.
In a recent ruling, NGT Chairpersons Justice Prakash Shrivastava and expert member Afroz Ahmad emphasized that open dumping of waste breaches solid waste management regulations. To resolve the issue, they have established a joint committee consisting of representatives from the Delhi Pollution Control Committee (DPCC) and the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD).
