On Saturday, in a meeting held via Video Conferencing Administrative and General Supervision Committee of Delhi High Court has decided to suspend its and Subordinate Court's functioning till May 17 in view of the extension of Lockdown observed nationwide.
The Government of India for a second time has added extension to the Lockdown announced in March concerning to COVID-19 Global Pandemic.
This makes all the pending matters which were to be listed from May 4 to May 17 stand adjourned to dates in the month of June. Matter listed in the Subordinate Courts would also be adjourned alltogether.
The practice of mentioning of 'urgent matters' as per the earlier order and hearing of cases via video conferencing shall continue in similar manner.
Little change is that the mentioning link would now be available from 9.00 am to 10.30 am on all working days to further accelerate listing and hearing of cases.
Information have been received that during the Lockdown period, a total of 11,427 urgent matters have been dealt by all Delhi Courts including the High Court.
In one previous order, the High Court has added a new list to the category of 'Urgent Matters' expanding the scale of cases to be taken up.
The Committee is trying its best to absorb the workload and comply to the heatlh protocols in practice.
