On Monday, the Supreme Court unveiled the “One Case, One Data” system, a nationwide digital integration initiative designed to connect case information from the Apex Court down to district and taluka courts. Announcing the project, Chief Justice of India Surya Kant said the move would transform judicial data access by enabling courts to retrieve and verify case details seamlessly across different judicial levels, a step expected to significantly improve transparency, efficiency, and coordination within the justice delivery system.
The initiative seeks to create a unified judicial data network by integrating databases of the Apex Court, High Courts, district courts, taluka courts, and relevant government departments. According to the Court, the system will automate the retrieval of case-related information and reduce delays caused by fragmented records and manual verification processes. The CJI stated that reciprocal access would also be extended to High Courts and government authorities whenever required, allowing smoother communication and faster access to litigation data across institutions. Alongside the integration platform, the Court also launched “Su-Sahay,” an AI-powered assistive chatbot developed with the National Informatics Centre to help litigants and stakeholders navigate court services and obtain case information more efficiently.
Explaining the significance of the initiative, Chief Justice Surya Kant said, “First time it's happening that the entire data will be now integrated,” adding that judges sitting in the Top Court would now be able to access complete details of matters pending before district and taluka courts. The Court observed that the system is intended to ensure “data integrity, enhance accuracy, and transparency” while modernising judicial administration through real-time digital connectivity.
