Central Government has assented for elevation of Justice Sonia Giridhar Gokani, Acting Chief Justice of Gujarat High Court as Chief Justice of the respective High Court.
The notification issued by the Law Ministry notifies that "In exercise of the powers conferred by clause (1) of Article 217 of the Constitution of India, the President is pleased to appoint Ms. Justice Sonia Giridhar Gokani, Judge of the Gujarat High Court to be the Chief Justice of the Gujarat High Court, with effect from the date she assumes charge of her office."
