In a separate notification issued on July 14, the Union Government has formalized the transfer of four serving Chief Justices to new High Courts. These transfers are based on the Supreme Court Collegium’s recommendations dated May 26, 2025, and aim to optimize judicial functioning through strategic reassignment.

The details of the transfers are as follows:

  • Justice Manindra Mohan Shrivastava, currently Chief Justice of the Rajasthan High Court, has been transferred to the Madras High Court. A senior judge from the Chhattisgarh High Court, he previously served as Acting Chief Justice before being formally appointed to the Rajasthan High Court on February 2, 2024.

  • Justice Aparesh Kumar Singh, serving as Chief Justice of the Tripura High Court since April 11, 2023, has been reassigned as Chief Justice of the Telangana High Court. His parent High Court is Jharkhand.

  • Justice M.S. Ramachandra Rao, appointed as the Chief Justice of the Jharkhand High Court on September 27, 2024, will now take charge as Chief Justice of the Tripura High Court. He hails from the Telangana High Court.

  • Justice K.R. Shriram, who was appointed Chief Justice of the Madras High Court on September 26, 2024, has now been transferred to the Rajasthan High Court. His parent High Court is Bombay.
