The Delhi High Court has agreed to urgently list a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) petition seeking directives for Indigo Airlines to provide immediate ground support and refund compensation to passengers impacted by a wave of recent flight cancellations. The urgency of the matter, highlighted by counsel who described the situation at various airports as "inhuman," prompted the Division Bench, comprising Chief Justice Devendra Kumar Upadhyaya and Justice Tushar Rao Gedela, to schedule the hearing for the issue later this week, despite noting that the Central Government has already addressed the crisis.

The core conflict arises from the abrupt cancellation of numerous Indigo flights across the country over the last few days, leaving countless passengers stranded without essential services or timely refunds. The PIL directly challenges Indigo's failure to manage the resulting chaos, arguing the airline has neglected its duty to provide ground support and process refunds. The plea before the Delhi High Court requests the Court to intervene and mandate appropriate relief for the severely inconvenienced travellers, setting up a legal clash between passenger rights and the airline's operational liabilities.

Though the Bench acknowledged that the Union Government has reportedly taken cognizance and issued directions regarding the disruptions, the judges recognized the severity of the crisis and the pressing need for judicial review. The Court, therefore, decided to entertain the PIL for a full hearing. A similar plea for urgent listing was, however, refused by the Apex Court earlier in the day on the grounds that the government was already addressing the issue. The Court ultimately decided to provide immediate access to justice for the affected passengers.

The Division Bench directed the listing of the matter, simply stating, "It will be listed on Wednesday."
