Minister of State in Ministry of Home Affairs Mr. Nityanand Rai informed Lok Sabha that 348 Custodial Deaths and 350 Police Encounters took place in last three year (2018-2021).
He replied to an Unstarred Question related to data of Custodial Deaths and Police Encounters during the last three years.
He stated that as per information received from the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) details of cases (State/UT Wise) registered in respect of Custodial deaths (Police) and death in Police Encounters. The details of the cases are as follows:

Most number of cases related to Custodial Deaths happened in Gujarat followed by Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra. In Police Encounter cases, Chhattisgarh is on the top position.
The Minister further informed the Lok Sabha that Government is taking all the steps by issuing advisories from time to time to ensure protection of human rights.
