The Central Bureau of Investigation has registered one more case afresh against 25 accused on complaint in compliance of the orders of Hon’ble High Court at Calcutta, passed in connection with WPA (P) 142, 143, 144, 145, 146, 147, 148, 149 & 169 of 2021 dated 19.08.2021.

It was alleged that the accused (residents of Jatra, Dist-Birbhum, West Bengal) alongwith others attacked the house of complainant on 02.05.2021 with revolvers, iron rods, knives, shovels etc. It was further alleged that the accused beat the complainant badly with stick and one accused grabbed the wife of the complainant, and attempted to rape her. It was also alleged that the complainant’s wife poured kerosene upon her to self immolate in order to save her honour.  At this, it was further alleged, the culprits left their house, threatening further consequences.  The case was not allegedly registered at Police Station Sadalpur, District Birbhum. The victim’s family left her house and took shelter at their relatives’ place. 

CBI has so far registered 49 cases in the matter related to violence and other offences in West Bengal. Investigation is continuing.
