The President of India has appointed Justice Sanjaya Kumar Mishra as acting Chief Justice of Uttrakhand High Court. Justice Sanjaya Kumar Mishra is the senior most Judge of the High Court.

The notification issued by the Ministry of Law and Justice has notified that “In exercise of the power conferred by Article 223 of the Constitution of India, the President is pleased to appoint, Shri Justice Sanjaya Kumar Mishra, senior-most Judge of the Uttarakhand High Court, to perform the duties of the office of the Chief Justice of the Uttarakhand High Court, with effect from 24.12.2021 consequent upon the retirement of Shri Justice Raghvendra Singh Chauhan, Chief Justice, Uttarakhand High Court.

About Justice Sanjaya Kumar Mishra

Justice Sanjaya Kumar Mishra  had secured the 1st position in the Recruitment Examination for District Judges from Bar and on 16.2.1999 joined as Additional District & Sessions Judge, Jeypore. He also worked as District & Sessions Judge, Sundergarh, Dhenkanal, Special Judge (CBI), Bhubaneswar and joined as Registrar General of Orissa High Court.He was elevated as Judge of the Orissa High Court on 07.10.2009.His Lordship transferred to High Court of Uttarakhand and assumed charge of the office of Judge of the High Court of Uttarakhand on Dated 11.10.2021 vide Notification No. K.11019/39/2021-US.I/II (iii) dated 05.10.2021.
