The Bombay High Court will continue with virtual hearings till the end of this month. The decision was taken in a meeting of the administrative committee chaired by Chief Justice Dipankar Datta on Thursday.

The Benches will preside three days a week for five hours on all working days.

The committee also decided that the first and third Saturday of the month will be working days for the court wherein hearings will be conducted virtually.

Additionally, approximately 10 benches will sit on the working Saturdays to decide all pending bail and anticipatory bail applications to clear the backlog that has been of concern this pandemic.

The administrative committee was aided by the Central and State Task Force which apprised the members in the meeting of the present situation of Covid-19 cases in the state. Chief Justice Datta had recently during the hearing of cases pertaining to Covid-19 management in state pointed to the large backlog and had mentioned that lawyers should be allowed to travel in local trains. The Task Force is said to have assured that they are working towards that.

All the benches of Bombay High Court -- Mumbai, Aurangabad, Nagpur, and Goa -- are hearing matters virtually since the last two months. During this time, the courts have only been taking up cases which need to be heard urgently for any relief to be granted.
