Present Jail Appeal has been received through Superintendent, District Jail, Almora.

2. Appellant - Laxmi Rocka has been convicted and sentenced, vide judgment dated 09.02.2023, passed by learned Special Sessions Judge, Champawat in Special Sessions Trial No.52 of 2020, to undergo rigorous imprisonment for a period of ten years along with a fine of Rs.1,00,000/- for the offence under Section 8/20 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985, and, in default of payment of fine, she has been directed to undergo additional imprisonment for a period of six months.

3. Heard Mr. T.C. Agarwal, learned Deputy Advocate General assisted by Ms. Lata Negi, learned Brief Holder for the State.

4. Mr. Nagesh Agarwal, Advocate, is appointed as Amicus curiae to assist the Court.
