                                                                             ...Respondents

 ORDER:

This Writ Petition is filed under Article 226 of Constitution of India

seeking the following relief/s:-

"...to issue an appropriate Writ, or order or direction more particularly one in the nature of Writ of Mandamus to direct respondents Nos.1 to 5 not to illegally detain the petitioners under the directions or influence of respondent Nos.6 to 13 her children and brothers and also not to curtail liberty of the petitioners and her brothers and may also prevent respondent Nos.1 to 13 not to do above illegal acts i.e., threatening etc., and to inform the whereabouts of husband of the 1st petitioner which they knew to this Honorable court and take action by punishing all the respondents if they or any men claiming through them if found approaching at the residential place of petitioner etc..."

2. None appears for the petitioners, Mr.D.Pradeep, learned Assistant

Government Pleader for Home appearing for respondent Nos.1 to 4.

3. The learned Assistant Government Pleader for Home, appearing

for respondent Nos.1 to 4, submits that the allegations made by the

petitioners, namely, that the respondent police are interfering with their

life and liberty and threatening them to disclose the whereabouts of the

husband of petitioner No.1, are without substance. It is further submitted

that the respondent police are acting strictly within the bounds of law. It is

also stated that this Court, having considered the submissions, passed

an interim direction on 06.02.2014, which is being duly complied with.

Accordingly, appropriate orders are sought.

4. I have perused the materials on record.

5. The contention of the petitioners is that the respondent police,

particularly respondent Nos.1 to 5, at the instance of respondent Nos.6 to

13, are insisting that the petitioners disclose the whereabouts of the

husband of petitioner No.1, thereby infringing upon their life and liberty.

6. Having regard to the pleadings on affidavit, the statutory limitations

governing police action even during pendency of criminal proceedings,

and the interim order passed earlier, the respondent police are directed

not to compel or insist that the petitioners furnish any information, and

shall not interfere with the life and liberty of the petitioners, save and

except strictly in accordance with law and by following due procedure.

7. With the above observations, the writ petition is disposed of. No

order as to costs.

As a sequel, pending miscellaneous applications, if any, shall stand

closed.
