This petition in the shape of Public Interest Litigation is
filed by a practicing lawyer praying for the following reliefs:
reliefs:-
ii) Seeking issuance of a writ of mandamus directing the respondents take necessary steps for strict compliance of the directions given by the Hon'ble Supreme Court of India as well as Hon'ble Punjab Haryana High Court, Chandigarh regarding the use, sale and purchase of the fire crackers to create public awareness towards minimizing the pollution levels by bursting of the fireworks and its associated adverse health impacts during the festivities in "Arjun Arjun Gopal and others vs. Union of India and others" in Writ Petition (C) No. 891/2016, Writ Petition (C) No. 895/2016, Writ Petition (C) No. 809/2016, Writ Petition (C) No. 213/2017 and in ""Court Court on its own motion vs. Chandigarh Administ Administration and others"" in CWP-23548 23548 of 2017 respectively".

2. Public cause raised herein is non-compliance by the States
of Haryana, Punjab and Union Territory, Chandigarh as regards the
directions issued by the Apex Court in "Arjun Gopal and others vs.
Union of India and others" in Writ Petition (C) Nos. 891/2016,
895/2016, 809/2016 and 213/2017 and by this Court in "Court on its
own motion vs. Chandigarh Administration and others" in CWP-23548
of 2017 respectively, for minimizing the pollution level while bursting
the fire crackers.
3. This Court has gone through various judgments rendered by
Apex Court and finds that as regards use, sale and purchase of fire
crackers, enough guidelines have been laid down by the Apex court
which only needs to be adhered by the Executive Authorities of the States
of Punjab, Haryana and Union Territory, Chandigarh.
4. With the direction that respondents No.1 to 3 and its
functionaries shall ensure strict compliance of the law laid down by the
Apex Court in Arjun Gopal and others vs. Union of India and others
(supra) on the subject of use, sale and purchase of fire crackers, the
petition stands disposed of.
