The instant petition has been filed by the petitioners seeking issuance of a writ in the nature of mandamus directing the respondents to consider the service rendered by the petitioners as 'SPO' as qualifying service for the purpose of pensionary/retiral benefits.

Learned counsel for the petitioners submits that the case of the petitioners is squarely covered by various judgments of this Court including

judgment rendered in CWP-9936-2017 titled as 'Sukhjeet Singh and

others Vs. The State of Punjab and others'.

Pursuant to service of advance notice, Mr. Inderpreet Singh Kang, AAG, Punjab has put in appearance on behalf of the respondents/State and has fairly submitted that the case of the petitioners shall be considered in

accordance with the rules as well as the latest position of law.

In view of the aforesaid submission, the instant petition is disposed of with a direction to respondent No.2 - The Director General of Police, Punjab, to consider and dispose of legal notice dated 08.02.2023 (Annexure P-10) in accordance with law and the settled position of law expeditiously preferably within a period of 3 months from today.

6. Acopy of this order along with copy of legal notice dated 08.02.2023 be

sent to respondent No.2 - The Director General of Police, Punjab for

necessary compliance.
