             2.      The appellant is    accused   in connection with

Special G.R. Case No.13 of 2021 along with one Santosh Singh. Both the accused persons have been convicted by the learned trial court vide judgment of conviction and order of sentence dated 29.02.2024 for the offence punishable under Sections 20(b)(ii)(C) of NDPS Act and sentenced to undergo R.I. for ten years each and to pay a fine of Rs.1,00,000/- (rupees one lakh) each, in default of fine, to undergo R.I. for one year each.

3. Vide order dated 18.09.2025, the co-accused- Santosh Singh has been enlarged on interim bail for a period of three months by taking into consideration the fact that he has already in custody for five years. The present appellant is also similarly situated. Therefore, Mr. Panda, learned counsel for the appellant is seeking

similar relief.

4. In the case of the co-accused-Santosh Singh, this Court has sought for a report from the Jail Authorities regarding the conduct of the said convict and regarding his antecedents. In that case, the Superintendent, District Jail, Balangir, vide report dated 15.09.2025 submitted a report and relying upon the said report, the co-accused-Santosh Singh was admitted to interim bail for a period of three months.

5. In view of the aforementioned, the Superintendent, District Jail, Balangir is directed to submit a report regarding the criminal antecedent, if any, against the present appellant-Ramanand Chowdhury and his conduct inside the jail, within a week.

6. List this matter on 6th November, 2025.
