Order
(Order of the Court was made by S.M.Subramaniam J.)
Mr.V.Jayaprakash Narayanan, learned counsel for the 16 th respondent,
Commissioner, Chidambaram Municipality, based on instruction, would submit
that the writ petitions filed by encroachers were dismissed by this Court on
11.01.2023 in W.P.No.Nos.12358, 12625 & 12707 of 2022. Thereafter, the
HR&CE Department, with the assistance of Revenue Officers and Police
authorities, have removed the encroachments in entirety in respect of the
lands and dwellings falling under the HR & CE Act.
2. The HR&CE Department, since had initiated Section 78 proceedings
for eviction of the encroachers, the same was also enforced. The entire
encroachments were removed as per the submission made on behalf of the
16th respondent. This being the factum, no further adjudication is required.
Accordingly, the Writ Petition stands closed.
