When the writ appeal came up for hearing on 28.09.2022,
this Court passed the following order:
“When the Writ Appeal came up for hearing on 18.12.2019, this Court took into consideration the interest of the differently abled persons and issued certain directions. Pursuant to the same, a status report has been filed by the second respondent along with the Motor Vehicle (Amendment) Act, 2019, which was published in the gazette of India on 09.08.2019.
2. The learned Central Government Standing Counsel brought to the notice of this Court the definition of adapted vehicle that has been added to Section 2 of the existing Act as 2(i). The learned counsel also brought to the notice of this Court Sub section 2 that has been added to Section 52 of the Principle Act.
3. The learned counsel for the first respondent / writ petitioner sought for some time to go through the https://www.mhc.tn.gov.in/judis

amended Act and to make his submissions.
4. Post this case on 12.10.2022.
2.We directed the learned counsel appearing on behalf of the writ
petitioner to go through the amendments that were brought into force in
the Principle Act. The learned counsel for the writ petitioner submitted
that the amendments that have been made to the Principle Act will enable
the differently abled persons to modify their vehicle and based on the
same, an application can be made to the Regional Transport Officer and
driving licence can be secured.
3.In view of the above, the main grievance that was expressed
before this Court has been sufficiently redressed by the amendment made
to the Principle Act.
4.Recording the same, this Writ Appeal is closed. No costs.
Consequently, connected miscellaneous petition is closed.
