                         JUDGMENT

The petitioner is a student at the School of

Engineering under the Cochin University of Science

and Technology. While studying in the 7 th semester,

he was implicated in a Crime bearing No.1881/2020

of Perumbavoor Police Station and was taken into

custody. The petitioner was suspended from the

college. In view of the above, the petitioner could

not appear for the 7th semester exams nor could he

attend classes for the 8th semester. The petitioner

was released on bail on 25.05.2021. The order of

suspension has been withdrawn by the college. The

8th semester exam is scheduled to commence on

07.06.2021. Immediately on his release, the

petitioner, on 27.05.2021, made a request via e-

mail to the Registrar - second respondent, seeking

permission to appear for the exams. So also the

petitioner has given Ext.P7 representation dated

29.05.2021 before the 3rd respondent seeking W. P. (C) No.11760 of 2021

permission to appear for the 8th semester exams. The

petitioner contends that it was only in the

circumstances beyond his control, as noticed above,

that he was unable to attend the classes and appear

for exams. The petitioner confines his relief for a

consideration of Ext.P7 representation.

2. Having heard the learned counsel for the

petitioner and also the learned Standing Counsel

for the University, I dispose of this writ

petition, without expressing anything on the

merits, directing the 2nd and 3rd respondents to

look into the representations submitted by the

petitioner and pass orders thereon forthwith, and

at any rate on or before 05.06.2021, in accordance

with the University regulations and guidelines.
