Heard Mr. J. Das, learned legal aid counsel appearing for the appellant. Also heard

Ms. B. Bhuyan, learned Sr. counsel/ Addl. P.P. Assam assisted by Ms. P. Bora, learned

counsel appearing for the State.

This appeal is directed against the judgment and order dated 22-08-2023 passed

by the learned Special Judge, Jorhat in connection with Special Case No. 33/2020

convicting the sole appellant under Section 6(1) of the POCSO Act, 2012 read with

Section 376AB of the IPC and sentencing him to undergo rigorous imprisonment for a life

and also to pay fine of Rs. 5,000/-.

We have perused the grounds taken in the memorandum of appeal.

Admit the appeal.

Call for the records.

Issue notice returnable in 04 weeks.

Since Ms. Bora has accepted notice on behalf of respondent No. 1, no formal notice

is required to be sent to the said respondent.

Notice be sent for service to the mother of the victim/ respondent No. 2 through

the Officer-in-Charge of the concerned Police Station, making the same returnable in 04

weeks.
