Bibek Chaudhuri, J.

The petitioner/accused has approached this Court for

expeditious disposal of Case No.N-156/2019 under Section 21 (c) of

the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act.

This Court is of the view that the instant revision can be

disposed of here and now with the assistance of the learned Public

Prosecutor-in-Charge. Mrs. Baisali Basu, learned Public Prosecutor-in-

Charge is requested to assist this Court in the instant matter.

The learned Legal Remembrancer, Government of West Bengal

is requested to regularize the appointment of Mrs. Baisali Basu.

It is contended by the petitioner that he is in custody since 2 nd

October, 2019 in connection with the above-mentioned case. The

Trial Judge framed charge against the accused on 5 th March, 2022 and

date was fixed on 6th May, 2022 for examination of the witnesses.

However, on that date, no witness was examined. The learned Trial

Judge fixed 3rd August, 2022 and 4th August, 2022 for further

evidence.

In view of the fact that the accused is under arrest and has

been spending his days in custody during trial. Learned Trial Judge is

directed to take positive step so that witnesses should come on the

dates fixed and they may be examined and discharged. The learned

Trial Judge is also requested to fix next schedule of trial within one

month after 4th August, 2022 and take all endeavour to dispose of the

case at the earliest.

With the above direction, the instant criminal revision is
