Heard.

The present contempt petition has been filed alleging non compliance of the judgment and order dated 19.12.2019 passed by the Division Bench of this Court in Writ Petition No. 35720 (MB) of 2019 Inre; Ms. 4163/Raja Ram Security Agency Vs. Union of India and Anr.

By the said judgment, the writ Court had directed the Directorate of Settlement to decide the representation of the applicant within a period of four weeks. The prayer before the writ Court of the applicant was seeking extension in the contract period of the applicant for supplying security guards for a period of six months w.e.f 21.12.2019. A period of four weeks had been given by the Division Bench of this Court to the respondents for deciding of the representation which period expired in January, 2020. As already indicated above, the applicant was seeking extension of contract for a period of six months which, if extended, would have expired in June, 2020. Despite lapse of the time granted by the Division Bench of this Court in January, 2020, the applicant continued to sit over the matter and has now filed the present contempt petition in January, 2021. As per the prayer before the Division Bench of this Court itself, the contract period, the extension of which was sought, if extended, would have expired in June, 2020. Thus, as now only an academic question is involved, this Court is not inclined to issue any notice for contempt.

Accordingly, the contempt petition is dismissed.
