This petition seeks the quashing of the order dated 1st August, 2013 passed by the Deputy Registrar, Firms, Societies and Chits, Kanpur Region, Kanpur by which the application filed by the petitioners under Section 12-D of the Societies Registration Act, 1860 (hereinafter referred to as the 'Act') for cancellation of the renewal certificate issued in favour of the respondent Society has been rejected.

Number of submissions have been raised by learned counsel for the petitioners to assail the said order but it is seen that under sub-section (2) of Section 12-D of the Act, an appeal shall lie to the Commissioner of the Division against an order passed under sub-section (1) of Section 12-D of the Act.

In such circumstances, when the petitioners have a statutory alternative remedy of filing an appeal to the Commissioner under sub-section (2) of Section 12-D of the Act, the Court declines to entertain this petition.

The writ petition is, accordingly, dismissed.
