2 top women Govt officials of Mahisagar - district development officer (DDO) Neha Kumari & superintendent of police (SP) Usha Rada - have been into an argument. Not over an administrative dispute, but over a cow!
With both officials having made written representations against each other to superiors in the Govt, the CM's office has intervened & has asked ACS home Sangeeta Singh, the senior-most woman IAS officer in the state, to conduct an inquiry into the matter & ask the officers to bury the hatchet.
Neha Kumari & Usha Rada enjoyed cordial relations until Christmas last year, when an incident involving a cow reared by Rada triggered hostility between the two. Kumari's staff members were playing volleyball in the complex that houses the official residences of the collector, DDO, SP & other Govt. officials, when the ball hit the Gir breed cows of Usha Rada.
According to complaints filed with the Govt, an enraged Rada directed cops to cut off the volleyball net & even as even asked Madhya Gujarat Vij Company Ltd to disconnect power supply to the volleyball ground. In her complaint before the government, Kumari alleged cops took away the volleyball net on orders from Rada.
Rada claims Neha Kumari barged into her office
In her complaint before the state Govt, Rada claimed that Neha Kumaari, accompanied by around 25 persons, barged into her official residence on December 26, 2019 & picked up a heated argument with her. Rada said in her complaint that Kumari threatened her saying "tumko dekh lungi (I will see you)". Rada has also alleged in her complaint letter that Kumari & her associated threw stones at her Gir cows despite the fact that she sent her milk procured from the cows daily.
Rada said in her complaint that without prior notice, Kumari sent revenue officers & halted construction of the police housing complex & threatened contractors who were renovating the SP office. The SP said in her complaint that under the pretext of land re-survey, the DDO removed all the building materials that contractors were using for construction of the police housing facility from a plot nearby & fenced off the plot.
A key state Govt. official said the open sparring between two top officials of Mahisagar district has caused much embarrassment to the Govt.
The official said that "The Govt, after seeking remarks of the revenue, GAD & home department, has asked ACS home Sangeeta Singh to inquire into the matter & resolve the issue. Singh will shortly summon both officers & ask them to bury their differences".
