Sharif did not declare a salary account before contesting Elections.
On Thursday, Pakistan’s Supreme Court observed that the documents submitted in the Panama Papers case proved that the then Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif received a salary from the UAE-based company in August,2013.
Observation have came as the Supreme Court’s five judge Bench, headed by Justice Asif Saeed Khosa, resumed hearing of the review petitions filed by Sharif family and the Finance Minister Ishaq Dar against July 28,2017 judgement that ousted Sharif from office.
The other judges comprising of the Bench are Justice Gulzar Ahmed, Justice Ijazul Ahsan, Justice Sheikh Azmat Saeed and Justice Ejaz Afzal Khan.
Senior Counsel Khawaja Haris, representing Sharif, submitted that his client never claimed to receive any salary from FZE Capital.
Asserting that the proper trial was needed for lawmaker’s disqualification, he further submitted that if just his election was termed void then Sharif would only have been barred for the one term.
Justice Ejaz responded that Sharif did not declare the salary account and that the documents submitted in Court state that he had received a salary in his FZE Capital account in August,2013.
