The Amity Law School (ALS), Amity University, Rajasthan has been established in the year 2008. ALS is offering courses in Ph.D., LL.M, BA.LL.B(H), B.Com.LL.B(H), B.B.A. LL.B(H). Amity Law School with its holistic approach to legal education provides impetus to law students to evolve into not only legal professionals but also as responsible and socially empathetic citizens of the State.

About The Competition

The Debating Society of Amity Law School, Amity University Rajasthan is going to organize, “SHABD YUDH” a NATIONAL DEBATE COMPETITION on 30th November, 2023. It stands as a prestigious and intellectually stimulating event on the academic calendar. This debate competition brings together talented debaters from across the nation to engage in thought-provoking discourse on a wide range of topics. The event fosters an atmosphere of healthy competition, where debaters tackle both contemporary and timeless issues, making it an enriching experience for all involved. The National Conventional Debate not only promotes the art of persuasive argumentation but also encourages participants to broaden their horizons and think critically, nurturing the future leaders and advocates of tomorrow.

Eligibility

The competition is open to any undergraduate or postgraduate student from any discipline who are duly enrolled in any recognized university/institution. Multiple entries from the same University/ College/ Institute shall be entertained. By applying for the competition, the teams shall be deemed to have accepted the terms and conditions of the organizing committee.

Rules & Regulations

  1. Each team should comprise of two members. Single member team would be considered as disqualified team. Multiple team per university/college/Institute is allowed to take part in the competition.
  2. The competition shall comprise of four rounds. Only 40 teams shall be considered for Preliminary Round of the Debate Competition based on first come first registered basis. “First Come First Registered” means the first duly completed online registration form along with the payment of registration fee on or before the last date of online registration i.e., 24.11.2023 till 12:00PM.
  3. Out of 40 top scoring 8 teams shall advance to quarter round and then top 4 teams to semi-finals and top scoring 02 Teams shall advance to Final round.
  4. Motion for preliminary round will be assigned to the teams via email on 25th November 2023.
  5. Team should prepare from both sides of the motion. Motion would be assigned to the team for quarters, semis, and final round 10 mins prior to the round.

(The detailed rules for execution of each round would be shared at the time of
registration at venue, thus, it is mandated to reach the venue at least one hour prior
to the commencement of the event.)

Theme For The Competition

  • The theme for the preliminary round – Abortion: Personal or state’s choice, a Pandora’s box.
  • The theme for Quarter rounds – Gender Equality, A Modern misconception.
  • The theme for Semi-finale round – Supreme Court: A law maker or interpreter.
  • The theme for Final rounds – Capital Punishment a must to create fear?

Language

The medium of communication for this debate shall be English only.

Dress Code

Formal Attire i.e, Black trousers, white shirt, black coat, black shoes, and black socks.

  • All the students who desire to participate in the competition shall fill the registration form.
  • Registration Fee per participant:
    For Amity University students: Rs. 200/-
    For other University students: Rs. 500/- + 18% GST
