About JCL

The Journal of Contemporary Law (JCL) is a peer-reviewed publication of the Faculty of Law, University of Lagos.

It provides a platform for interdisciplinary, doctrinal, and practice-oriented legal scholarship addressing contemporary legal challenges.

Theme/Topics

Topics include constitutionalism, governance, public interest law, commercial regulation, criminal law reform, environmental law, international law, technology and cybersecurity, legal history, social justice, human rights, legal education, ethics, case law analysis, and development-focused legal scholarship from African and Global South perspectives.

How to submit?

Submit electronic manuscripts to jcl@unilag.edu.ng with the subject “JCL Submission.”

Submission Guidelines

Manuscripts should not exceed 8,000 words, use UK English, Times New Roman, 1.5 spacing, font size 12, footnotes font size 10, and follow NALT or OSCOLA citation guides.

Abstracts of up to 300 words are required.

Authors shall receive notification of receipt of their submissions. Authors whose articles are accepted for publication will be notified e-mail.
