About B.M.S. College of Law

B.M.S. College of Law was established in the year 1963 by Sri. B.S. Narayan, Donor Trustee, BMSET, under the aegis of B.M. Sreenivasaiah Educational Trust. The trust is named after Dharmaprakasha Rajakaryaprasaktha Sri. B.M. Sreenivasaiah, whose vision laid the foundation for the first private engineering college in the State of Karnataka.

The college is affiliated to Karnataka State Law University, Hubballi (KSLU) and is approved by the Bar Council of India, New Delhi. The college offers B.A., LL.B., B.Com. LL.B., BBA. LL.B. (5 Year Degree Course) and LL.B (3 Year Degree Course)

With an aim of imparting quality legal education, B.M.S. College of Law has a strong foundation and infrastructure with a highly qualified and dedicated team of faculty committed to providing a world class learning experience. Eminent alumni of the institution form a strong professional network and work tirelessly to contribute back to the institution. The institution has a specious library with a collection over 27000 books, journals and online resources which are updated periodically.

About the BMSCL Journal of Law

The BMSCL Journal of Law is the publication of B.M.S. College of Law, Bengaluru assigned with ISSN/e-ISSN number 2584-1165. It is an annual, peer reviewed law journal.

Call for Submissions

The Editorial Board of the BMSCL Journal of Law is inviting submissions for the upcoming Volume. All submissions will go through a rigorous review process and possible editing by the Editorial Board.

We accept submissions under the following categories:

  • Short Articles: 1500 – 5000 words
  • Long Articles: 3000-5000 words
  • Case Comments: 1500– 3000 words
  • Book Review: 800-1000 words

Guidelines for Contributors

  • Authorship: Co-authorship is allowed to a maximum of one additional co-author.
  • Originality: All works must be original and unpublished, original and devoid of any kind of plagiarism. Any form of plagiarism will lead to disqualification from publication
  • Language: Contribution shall be in English only
  • Cover Letter: All manuscripts must be accompanied by the cover letter with the names(s) of the author(s), institution/affiliation, the title of the manuscript and the corresponding author’s contact information.
  • Conflict of Interest: “Conflicts of Interest” placed just before the reference list. If no conflicts exist, the authors should state: The authors declare no conflicts of interest.
  • Copyright: The Copyright of the contribution made for the publication in “BMSCL Journal of Law”, shall solely remain with B.M.S. College of Law, Bengaluru. The Authors will be solely responsible for any dispute arising out of the manuscript including copyright, defamation, objectionable content or contempt and agree to suffer the loss, if any, caused by violating Copy right or any other rights.

Submission Guidelines

  • Submissions are to be made only in electronic form and must be made via a Google form which can be accessed through QR Code mentioned in the flyer at the end of this post.
  • The manuscripts shall be submitted with plagiarism reports generated through software such as Turnitin, DrillBit etc. and the scanned copy of the author declaration. (For author declaration visit here).
  • All submissions are to contain an abstract, of not more than 200-250 words including 05 keywords accompanying the article.
  • The abstract must be at the beginning of the article. Please refrain from sending abstracts in separate word documents.
  • By submitting an article, the author undertakes that the article is an original work and has not been submitted, accepted or published elsewhere.
  • Plagiarism will result in summary rejection of the submission.

Formatting Guidelines

  • All submissions must follow the 21st edition of The Bluebook Citation Style. (A Uniform System of Legal Citation) Non-conformity will be aground for rejection.
  • Submissions must be in Times New Roman font, with size 12 and line spacing 1.5.All footnotes must be in Times New Roman font, with size 10 and line spacing 1.The submissions of manuscripts must be made in .doc/.docx formats only.
  • The documents must not contain any identification markers. E.g., the name of the author after the title, or any other meta data on Word.
  • Preparing Figures, Statistics, Schemes and Tables: All Figures, Schemes and Tables should be inserted into the main text close to their first citation and must be numbered following their number of appearances (Figure 1, Scheme 1, Figure 2, Scheme 2, Table 1, etc.). All Figures, Schemes and Tables should have a short explanatory title and caption.

Deadline

The last date for submission to BMSCL Journal of Law is 15 May, 2025. Submissions sent after the deadline will not be considered for publication.

Certificate of Publication

The Certificate of publication is given to all the authors published in each issue without any additional cost. The certificate is given to the authors as soon as the publication is live.
