In exercise of the powers conferred by section 18 of the Tamil Nadu Cattle Disease Act, 1866 (Tamil Nadu Act II of 1866), the Governor of Tamil Nadu hereby makes the following rules, namely:-

Short title.- These rules maybe called the Tamil Nadu Cattle Disease Control Rules, 1982.
Definitions.- In these rules, unless there is anything repugnant in the subject or context,-

(1) "Act" means the Tamil Nadu Cattle Disease Act, 1866 (Tamil Nadu Act II of 1866);

(2) "Section" means a section of the Act;

Compulsory inoculation of animals.- (1) On the publication of a notification under section 1 of the Act in the City of [Chennai]or in the City of Madurai, the Commissioner of the Municipal Corporation concerned may, if he considers that Foot and Mouth disease exists in the area under his jurisdiction and that inoculation will be necessary in an approved method by the officers of the Animal Husbandry Department or by any person authorised by them in that behalf.

(2) The order issued under sub-rule (1) shall specify the villages or areas to which it applies and shall be published in such manner as the Collector or the Commissioner, as the case may be, may think fit. The time and place for the production of animals for inoculation in every such village or area shall be published in the village or area and, thereupon, it shall be the duty of the owner or person in charge of any animal to produce the same for inoculation at the time and place as so published.
