- Short title and commencement.- (i) These rules may be called the U.P. Cotton (Statistics) Rules, 1947.
(ii) They shall come into force at once.
- Interpretation.- In these rules, unless there is anything repugnant in the subject or context,-
(i) 'Act' means the U.P. Cotton (Statistics) Act, 1947 ;
(ii) 'return' means the return prescribed in Section 3 of the Act.
- Manner of furnishing return.- Every trader and every owner shall furnish each year to the Economic Adviser, returns in the form mentioned in the Schedule [hereto appended]in Hindi, Urdu or English by registered post, acknowledgement due. On the cover containing the return shall be written prominently "Confidential-Return under the U.P. Cotton (Statistics) Act, 1947".
