In exercise of the powers under Section 237 of the Uttar Pradesh [Kshettra Panchayats] and [Zila Panchayats] Adhiniyam, 1961 (U. P. Act 33 of 1961), the Governor is pleased to make the following Uttar Pradesh [Zila Panchayat] (Expenditure on Welcome Address) Rules, 1971, after previous publication with Notification No. 44-D/33-2-95-69, dated May 21, 1971, as required under sub-section (2) of Section 237 of the said Adhiniyam :
- Short title.- (1) These Rules may be called the Uttar Pradesh [Zila Panchayats](Expenditure on Welcome Address) Rules, 1971.
(2) They shall come into force with effect from the date of their publication in the Gazette.
- Any [Zila Panchayat]may present an address of welcome to any person of prominence and distinction and may in that connection incur an expenditure not exceeding five hundred rupees :
Provided that where the expected expenditure on such presentation is likely to exceed the above limit, prior permission of the Commissioner of the Division, shall be obtained by the [Zila Panchayat]
