Sports firm LawNK Founder Nandan Kamath has accepted the government’s Rashtriya Khel Protsahan Puruskar award on behalf of the GoSports Foundation, which he co-founded in 2008.
GoSports is a non-profit that works towards “the development of some of India’s top talents in Olympic and Paralympic disciplines, through our athlete scholarships and knowledge building programmes”, according to is website.
Its board of advisors includes Olympic gold medalist Abhinav Bindra, former Indian cricket captain Rahul Dravid and All England Badminton Champion Pullela Gopichand.
The Rashtriya Khel Protsahan Puruskar was founded in 2009 to promote the development of sports in India.
GoSports managing trustee Kamath is a 2000 graduate of NLSIU Bangalore, was Rhodes Scholar at Oxford University and holds an LLM from Harvard Law School.
He had worked at US firm Davis Polk & Wardwell between 2003 and 2006 before returning to India.
In 2007, Kamath had set up LawNK, which specializes in sports law.
