Supreme Court of India is likely to announce the decision on the UGC Case on Exam Guidelines and final year university examinations tomorrow - August 28. The matter was not listed for today's cause list either, effectively increasing the delay in the SC decision. On the official website of Supreme Court the matter has been listed for tomorrow.
The students can check the website of SC, sci.gov.in. It is being hoped that the verdict would be announced sooner than later.
Informiing of the development, Advocate Alakh Alok Srivastava confirmed the delay and assured the students that all is being done. He has also listed out the various steps that have been taken and asked the students to be patient and trust the Supreme Court. Advocate Alakh Alok Srivastava has confirmed the same in a tweet. Though it is not clear if the verdict would be announced tomorrow or not, the hope for a speedy verdict is awaited. Check out the tweet below.
Meanwhile, in a poll conducted by timesnownews.com, 92 per cent students wanted the university final year examinations to be cancelled. While many universities have already started and some have even conducted the final year examination, the states of Delhi, Maharashtra and Odisha are waiting for the Supreme Court judgement.
11 students from across the country had approached the Supreme Court for intervention in the matter. Following that, 2 separate petitions – one by Yuva Sena on behalf of Maharashtra State’s decision to cancel exams and another by a law student were also filed. The matter was heard in the court over multiple hearings. Final submissions have been made and the decision is now awaited.
