COVID-19: Students of Rajiv Gandhi National Law University raise their grievance of economic distress due to pandemic, demand refund of fees, Read Letter

The students of Rajiv Gandhi National Law University have written to  CM Punjab, Chief Justice Punjab and Haryana HC, Education Minister Punjab raising their grievance of economic stress caused by the COVID-19 pandemic and extended lockdowns on their families.

They have stated that due to the premature closure of campus and the subsequent declaration of Summer Vacations, a major portion of fees already paid for the semester remains unutilized.
 
The have written in the letter that administration should understand their plight and grant us appropriate relief(s) as detailed in their Application attached herewith. Request for relief is without prejudice to the salary/wages of the teaching/non-teaching staff.

Specific requests students are: 
i. Exemption of Annual Increase in Tuition Fees for the next academic session; and
ii. Rebate in Late Fees (if any) applicable on payment of fees; and
iii. Partial Refund of ‘Fees’ already paid in lieu of the Balance (‘Fees’ including but not limited to Amenities Fee, Moot Court Fee, Mess Fee, Campus Development Fund, a portion of Hostel Rent which remains unutilized); or
iv. Adjustment of the Balance by appropriate monetary relief in next semester fees.
