About the Position

Applications are invited from eligible candidates for the temporary position of Full-time Research Assistant at the Government Law College, Thiruvananthapuram, to work on an Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR) sponsored Minor Research Project.

The project, titled “Disaster-Induced Displacement and the Denial of the Right to Adequate Housing: A Study on the Human Rights Crisis with Special Reference to Coastal Kerala and the District of Wayanad,” is led by Project Director Dr. Meenakumary S.

The host institution, GLC Thiruvananthapuram, was established in 1875 by the visionary ruler of Travancore and is one of the oldest and most prestigious law colleges in India, currently celebrating over 150 years of academic excellence.

Eligibility

• possess a post-graduate degree in Law (LL.M.), Human Rights, Habitat Studies, Social Work, or a related Social Science discipline
• demonstrate strong empirical research inclinations, a legally oriented analytical capacity, and prior fieldwork experience within Kerala.
• Prior experience in research projects, preferably related to environmental law/ human rights
• Familiarity with quantitative and/or qualitative research methods, ability to assist in literature review, instrument development, data collection, data analysis, and report writing
• Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, SPSS / NVivo/similar analytical tools
• Proficiency in academic writing and ability to manage multiple tasks and meet timelines.

Remuneration

Rs 37000 per Month (consolidated), as per ICSSR norms

Key Responsibilities

• Execute specific project-related outputs by undertaking and supporting primary and secondary research, including literature review, secondary data analysis, organisation, and documentation of research materials.
• Coordinate and support data collection and field research activities, including fieldwork logistics and liaison with stakeholders.
• Assist in questionnaire design, data transcription and compilation, data entry and coding, and quantitative/qualitative data analysis.
• Support academic writing related to the project, including research papers, policy briefs, reports, presentations, and other documentation.
• Organise logistics, documentation, and liaison related to project implementation.
• Carry out any other research-related work assigned by the Project Team.
