Justice Margarita Ramos Luna, a former president of the second chamber of the Supreme Court of Justice, has joined Von Wobeser y Sierra’s litigation and arbitration practice as of counsel, bringing more than 40 years’ experience in Mexico's federal judicial branch.

The first women appointed to the Supreme Court’s National Judiciary Council Luna built a reputation as one of the most progressive members of the federal judiciary, as a district judge, as well as first circuit court judge and as justice of the Mexican Supreme Court, in matters ranging from Amparo (constitutional proceedings), administrative litigation and arbitration, labor law and women's rights, among others.

She has been a promoter of alternative dispute resolution from the bench, including by penning or decisively supporting some of the groundbreaking Supreme Court rulings on the subject of arbitrability of disputes, annulments of arbitration awards and the non-applicability of Mexican procedural law formalities to arbitrator's decision making and award rendering process. She will focus her practice at the firm on arbitration and counseling.

She is the founder of the Interinstitutional Committee for Genre Equality in the federal judicial branch.
