On Saturday, the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) decided to move the Apex Court seeking management of the historic Gurdwara Mangu Mutt at Puri in Odisha.

The decision was taken during a video conference of the sub-committee constituted by the SGPC on the issue. The meeting was attended by SGPC functionaries, Sikh leaders of Odisha & Senior Advocate Birjinder Singh.

Singh was asked to file a plea in this regard in the Supreme Court.

Besides, it was decided that the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee would continue its efforts to take up the matter with the Govts concerned.

Notably, a row over the gurdwara erupted after many of the structures situated on its premises were demolished in Dec 2019. Since then, the Sikh community has been demanding that its management be handed over to the SGPC.
