Former Chief Justice of HC: There is need for investigative Journalism rather than invasive Journalism

HMJ Manmohan Sarin, Former Chief Justice of J&K, Former Lokayukta, NCT of Delhi and Chairperson, Film Certification Appellated Tribunal emphasised the need for investigative Journalism rather than invasive Journalism.

He also emphasised that media must abide by its commitment topic truthful balanced and objective reports.

The obervations by Lordship came during a Talk Show was organised  by Lecture Series on Law in Collaboration with Symbiosis Law School on 13th September 2020 on Topic: Fair Trial: Rights of Accused, Victims and Media.

Apart from Justice Sarin other eminent panelists were Mr Raian Karanjawala , Managing Director Karanjawala & Co was the Guest of Honour. Amongst other noted personalities were Mr Satya Prakash, Editor, The Tribune, Sr Adv. KK Manan , Sr Adv. Mr Rakesh Tikku , Sr Adv Geeta Luthra , Sr Adv Mrunalini Deshmukh, Adv Madhu Tewatia, Adv Anu Mehta and Madhav Sareen .The Show was moderated by Advocate Rubinder Ghumman .

The Talk Show was a very informative and educative covering various issues of Fair Trial. HMJ Manmohan Sareen and Raian Karanjawala gave the introduction to the Topic .

Mr Raian Karanjawala, Ms Geeta Luthra , Ms Deshmukh shared their experiences of handling High profile media cases.

Mr Raian Karanjawala discussed in detail on the rights of accused and victims and the balancing  role tje media should play.

Mr KK Manan , gave a insight into criminal Law and shared his experiences of handling criminal cases and how the media played a role in digging out crime.

Mr Satya Prakash, Editor Tribune, Spoke in lenght about investigative Journalisum and In detail about Sahara Judgement of Honble Supreme Court .

Sr Adv  Rakesh Tikku Talked about the American Law, Fundemental right of Freedom of expression and speech along with the restrictions imposed by the constitution of India . Sr Advocate Rakesh Tikku also Spoke on how the invasive Journalisim of media .

Adv Anu Mehta Talked about the misuse of media At the hands of political parties .She emphasised that media must be Free and Fair while reporting matters as media is the 4th pillar of Democracy . She stressed the need For media to have a balanced view as it creats a opnion in the minds of people . She said in todays world pen is mightier than sword and must be used with due responsibility.

 Mr Madhav Sareen Spoke about the preception of media in the eyes of people and how effective redressral forums and their effectiveness.  

Mr Rwandle, Principal Symbiosis Law College, Noida welcomed the Guest speakers and made a perfect clousure by sitting quotes in sanskrit and summing up the session.

 Advocate Rubinder Ghumman was appreciated for moderating the show successfully by the speakers and for asking  bold and leading questions on the topic.
