To enable Virtual proceedings of Courts & digitisation of Court records during the Coronavirus pandemic, the Delhi cabinet on Monday approved a proposal for buying 6 routers & 6 network-attached storage (NAS) devices. The approval will pave the way for all litigants to view & attend the Virtual Court hearings.
The 6 routers will enable the District Courts to meet the requirement of the dedicated 1GBPS-leased line in all complexes for smooth & hasslefree functioning of Courts through the online/virtual mode & serve lawyers & litigants. The cabinet meeting was headed by CM Arvind Kejriwal.
Requests for better internet connection & digitisation of Court records were made to the Delhi Govt by various Courts, Judges, Subordinate Judiciary & Litigants. The routers & devices will be installed at Tis Hazari, Rohini, Karkardooma, Saket, Patiala House & Dwarka Court complexes.
The estimated cost for procuring the routers is Rs 1.6 crore & the same for the NAS devices is Rs 2.2 crore. “Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the courts across the country have taken to functioning virtually amid social distancing & no crowding norms that need to be followed,” a Govt statement pointed out.
The routers & the devices “will facilitate virtual hearings at district courts for the convenience of lawyers, litigants & subordinate judiciary,” it added.
