May,21,2016:

Arvind Kejriwal  Delhi CM has opposed the Ordinance route adopted by GOI.

The Union Cabinet has passed an Ordinance with an aim to override the Supreme Court Judgment on NEET.

Govt. has taken a decision to postpone the NEET or National Eligibility cum Entrance Test for Medical and Dental courses till the next year, so that some relief is provided to the aspiring students.

It is a Mumbai-based NGO, Sankalp Charitable Trust, which had filed the petition against the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) exam Ordinance aimed at nullifying SC decision.

SC order was passed on a Petition filed by this NGO only. The respondents in that case were Medical Council of India, Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) and Centre Govt.

These developments have taken place after the first round of examinations for NEET format has already been conducted, the second NEET round is due on 24 July 2016.

JP Nadda ,Union Health Minister had said that the main reason to initiate NEET for medical and dental colleges across the Nation was to contain corruption,

Several States and major political parties have favoured the decision to implementation of the SC verdict by one year.

However, Arvind Kejriwal  Delhi CM has demanded that the Government should not take the ordinance route to overturn the Supreme Court's order.
