CBI Court sentences Former Assistant Superintendent of Post Offices to Four Years Rigorous Impisionment in Bribery Case

The CBI Court Bhubaneswar, on 13.03.2026, convicted and sentenced the accused Radha Krushna Sahoo, the then Asst. Supdt. of Post Offices I/c Baripada Central Sub Division Baripada to Rigorous Imprisonment (RI) for 4 Years with a Fine of Rs. One Lakh in a Bribery Case.

The CBI registered the instant case on 04.02.2014 against the said accused. It was alleged that the accused demanded a bribe of Rs. 2 Lakh from the complainant to take initiatives for his joining as GDS / MD/MC in Debsole branch post office. The accused did not take any step for his joining and demanded Rs.50,000 on 03.02.2014 (out of 2 lakh rupees), When the complainant expressed his inability to pay Rs.50,000, the accused agreed to accept the money in 02 installments i.e., Rs.20,000 out of Rs.50,000 at his rented residence at Baliganja on 06.02.2014.

The CBI laid a trap and caught the accused red-handed while demanding and accepting bribe of Rs. 20,000 from the complainant.

After investigation, CBI filed the chargesheet on 25.06.2014 against the accused.

  The Hon’ble Court, after the trial, convicted and sentenced the accused accordingly.
