CBI Arrests Senior Delhi Judge while accepting Bribe from a Lawyer

A total of Rs. 20 Lakhs was demanded as Bribe

The Central Bureau of Investigation, CBI has today arrested a Senior sitting Judge of Tis Hazari Court Complex while allegedly accepting a cash bribe of Rs 4 lakh from a Practicing Lawyer.

A source from CBI and PTI release has said that Ms. Rachna Tiwari Lakhanpal, posted as Senior Civil Judge cum Rent Controller, Tis Hazari court was arrested by CBI while she was allegedly accepting bribe of Rs 4 lakh from an practicing Advocate.

This Advocate was appointed as local Commissioner by her in a Civil Suit which she was adjudicating.

As per the reports it is alleged that Rs 4 lakh was part of the first installment of total Bribe demand of Rs 20 lakh by her.

The source said she was remanded to 14 day Judicial Custody by Special CBI Judge Sanjeev Agarwal.

During the investigation in the search Conducted at her Residence a huge amount of cash of Rs. 93.6 Lakhs was also recovered. Out of this Rs 60 lakh was recovered from the bedroom of the Lakhanpals, and the rest of the money recovered from children’s bedroom.

Her Husband who is a Practicing Advocate was also arrested along with one more Lawyer.
